Suffering With Eczema? These Tips Can Help!

People who have eczema are annoyed by itching all the time. This condition can also cause reddening and inflammation of the skin. Luckily, there are many ways to treat it and find relief. Continue reading for more information.

If you need a soothing solution for eczema symptoms, look for a moisturizer in ointment or cream form. This will be better for your eczema than lotions. You might even try petroleum jelly. Make sure whatever you use is alcohol and fragrance free. Moisturize in the morning and evening if possible.

Having eczema may not lead you to think about what kinds of clothes you’re wearing. Wearing comfortable, soft clothes that won’t aggravate the skin is important. You should opt for loose-fit clothes that are made from fabrics like cotton. Steer clear of rough fabric such as wool. After you buy new clothes, wash them in a mild laundry detergent and rinse them two times before you wear them.

Moisturizing creams and ointments are your best choice to alleviate your dry and itchy skin. These work better than lotions. Petroleum jelly is also a favorite and it works better than lotion as well. Do not use moisturizers that contain fragrances. Try moisturizing skin twice a day.

Make sure not to touch your skin if you have eczema. Eczema can be quite uncomfortable. If you scratch, it only makes things worse. This may cause your skin to become infected. Use your moisturizer as much as possible and put on a cold compress to help relieve your symptoms.

Choose a sunscreen that doesn’t contain PABA. The ingredient is known to cause problems with people who have eczema. Pay close attention to the ingredient list, even if it says PABA-free. If necessary, you can make an appointment with your doctor to ask about prescription sunscreen.

Wear non-irritating clothes. Certain types of fabrics can contribute to flare ups. Cotton is the best choice as a result. Also, make sure you wash new clothing before you wear it. Use a detergent that’s mild for this.

Avoid getting worked up with stress whenever possible. Stress is often responsible for eczema symptoms. There are techniques and strategies to reduce stress, and exercise can also help. This could keep your eczema symptoms to a minimum.

Keep your nails trimmed and nice looking. You know during the day to avoid scratching your eczema, but you might do it anyway when you sleep. Your rash will worsen when scratched, and will bleed when scratched with long nails. You want to be sure your nails are clean as well.

Enjoy a warm bath to soothe your skin. The water needs to be tepid. Add some colloidal oatmeal or baking soda to your water for soothing the skin. Alternatively, you could try adding 1/2 cup bleach to a full tub. This can help eliminate bacteria of the skin. Do not soak for more than a few minutes though.

Apply moisturizer to your eczema when your skin is damp. When damp, your skin is pulling in moisture, so it helps. Take a towel and pat your skin dry. Then you can put on your moisturizer. Do this quickly after a bath to retain the most moisture.

Moisturize frequently. In terms of managing eczema, moisturizers can be terrific allies. The best time to moisturize is following your bath or shower. Also, avoid moisturizers that contain fragrance and other chemicals that can irritate the skin. These things can irritate the skin. Stick with creams and ointments at all times.

Keep your skin moisturized to prevent eczema. Soft, moisturized skin is not as likely to crack. Apply Vaseline or any unscented moisturizer that contains a limited amount of ingredients. Certain fragrances and chemicals will do the opposite of soothing your skin, instead making the condition worse.

Eczema can frustrate just about anyone, if left alone without proper treatments. Itchy and irritated skin makes it tough to do much of anything. If you have a problem with eczema, this advice is going to teach you what to do to get relief.
